AHMEDABAD: The incident occurred in the presence of Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel and several other BJP leaders who were sitting on the dais from where Sonal Solanki was delivering her speech.
The bangles hurled by independent councillor Urvashi Patel, the daughter of former municipality president Raju Patel, landed near the deputy chief minister and other leaders, police said.
Urvashi was immediately whisked away by the police following the incident. Nitin Patel was here today to inaugurate a hospital built under the PPP (public private partnership) model by the BJP-ruled municipality.
He shared the dais with Solanki, local BJP MLA Bharat Patel and other dignitaries of the party.
As soon as Solanki started her speech, Urvashi, who was sitting in one of the front rows, removed her bangles and threw them at Urvashis direction out of anger, police said, adding that she shouted that corruption has been rampant under Solanki.
“She was quickly taken out from the venue by women police personnel. She was released later. No one was injured in the incident,” a police official said.
