Nobel prize for discovery of mechanism of fasting

One of the obligatory duties of a Muslim is observing fast throughout the month of Ramadan. Islam is scientific, whose every practice has a considerable significance in terms of health as well.

Ramadan is the 28/29 days of worship, and the fasting person is rewarded even while he is asleep.

Observing fast is considered to be detoxifying the human body, now imagine getting a Nobel prize for the discovery of such mechanism.

Yoshinori Ohsumi, a Japanese Biologist was awarded the 2016 Nobel Prize in Physiology for his discoveries of the mechanism for autophagy, which defines ‘a simple process of starving the body to allow cells to recycle its content’.

This lets the cells clear out harmful materials. Autophagy is essential for the life and health of the cell. In fact, it combats diseases like Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, cancer and diabetes.

Islam gave a scientific solution 1,400 years ago.
