Vijayawada, November 14: Vishwa Hindu Parishad today demanded from the Centre to enact a law to protect the cows in the country by banning their slaughter.
Addressing a public meeting here today, VHP general secretary Praveen Togadia asked as to why the Congress-led government at the Centre was not bringing a law to ban cow slaughter.
Nowadays, farmers are unable to meet the higher maintenance of cows and ultimately, they are selling them away to slaughter houses, Togadia said demanding corporal punishement to those who kill cows.
The VHP leader also demanded the government to create land for grazing cows and said that governments should take back the grazing land from the people who had occupied them.
He said that we have to create more demand for cow products leading more profits for farmers.
