Ayodhya, October 20: The high-powered committee of saints and sadhus of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad on Shree Ramjanmabhoomi was holding a meeting today where some important decisions on the issues related to the construction of Ram Temple were expected to be taken.
The committee, comprising 48 members, was meeting for the first time after the Allahabad High Court verdict and will also review the judgement and its implications.
Jagatguru Shankaracharya Swami Basudevanand Saraswati of Jyotispeeth Badrika Ashram, VHP president Ashok Singhal, Shree Ramjanmabhoomi Yagya Samiti president Mahant Avaidnath and VHP general secretary Praveen Togadia were among the prominent persons who were participating in the meeting.
According to sources, the committee would discuss in detail the High Court verdict and the recent announcement of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board(AIMPLB) and the Sunni Central Waqf Board to challenge the High Court verdict which had not only identified the disputed area as the birth place of Lord Ram but also recommended division of the land in three parts.
The meeting started at Karsevekpuram in the city and the media briefing would be made at around 1530 hrs about the outcome of the deliberations.
Sources said the meeting could reiterate its commitment towards construction of the Ram temple at the earliest besides rejecting any effort to compromise on the construction of a mosque near the temple.
Several legal experts of the Hindu side, who had pleaded the case in the High Court, would also be present during the meeting to apprise the committee of their views in the case, now set to move to the Supreme Court.
Meanwhile, a showdown is expected between the two factions of the Akhil Bharatiya Hindu Mahasabha after Kamlesh Tiwari, leading the UP unit reached Ayodhya this morning.
The Tiwari faction was opposing the other group lead by Swami Chakrapani, which is holding a national meeting in Ayodhya on October 31.
