VHP, BD protesters held at Punjagutta, Paradise circle

The Punjagutta police today arrested Bajrangdal activists at Punjagutta Circle where they staged protest against the Valentines Day.

The protesters raised slogans saying that Indians must respect the Indian culture leaving foreign culture. Punjagutta Inspector Mohan Kumar arrested Hindi Nagar (Hyderabad) district assistant secretary Kirankumar and five others and shifted them to police station.

           

Similarly, the Ramgopalpet Police arrested VHP and Bajrangdal activists, who demonstrated against Valentines Day at Secunderabad Paradise Circle on Sunday morning. The protesters raised slogans against Valentines Day in India. They said they were not against “love” but were against the unethical foreign culture and Valentines Day.

           

The police also deployed huge force on the Osmania University campus on the occasion of Valentines Day on Sunday. The police erected barricades at NCC Gate and Police Station Gate to prevent outsiders from entering into the University campus. The police, as part of precautionary measures, arrested leaders of SFI, AISF and PDSU, who formed as an Indian Lovers Union (ILU) and announced they would celebrate Valentines Day at Arts College on Sunday evening. Meanwhile, the Bajrangdal and ABVP activists made it clear that they would obstruct the Valentines Day celebrations on the Campus. In the process, the police didn’t allow outsiders into the Campus, including the media. (NSS)
