Venkatadri engine detaches from train twice

Hyderabad, August 29: Passengers of Chittoor-bound Venkatadri Express (No. 2797), including about 15 MLAs and MLCs, had a providential escape twice when the locomotive hauling the train delinked from the coaches at Balanagar and Jadcherla in Mahaboobnagar district on Friday night.

SC Railway sources said, when the locomotive got detached first near Balanagar the driver reversed it, coupled with the train and then commenced the onward journey. But the engine developed the same problem again when it was reaching Jadcherla. The railway authorities this time detained the train at Jadcherla. The Senior Divisional Mechanical Engineer reached there to rectify the problem, when reports last came in. Another engine has been sent from Secunderabad to resume the journey.
