US police officer in rape trail

Washington, May 14: A US police officer fighting a rape charge says he was simply being discreet by not telling his police partner about lying in the accuser’s bed with her.

New York Police Department Officer Kenneth Moreno testified today he doesn’t “kiss and tell”.

Officer Moreno and Officer Franklin Mata are on trial on charges including rape. They were called to help the drunken woman get home in December 2008.

Officer Mata is accused of standing watch while Officer Moreno raped her. She says she passed out and awoke to being raped.

Officer Moreno says she flirted with him and he kissed her on the forehead and cuddled with her in her bed. He says they didn’t have sex.

Officer Mata says he was asleep in the living room while they were in the bedroom.
