Lucknow, July 14: Uttar Pradesh Human Rights Commission (UPHRC) has ordered SSP Ghaziabad to lodge an FIR against erring police officials for allegedly torturing a youth, officials said today.
The UPHRC Chairman H K Sema issued the order yesterday after Commission’s investigation prima facie found cops guilty of harassing the youth Abdul Rauf.
Rauf was allegedly detained at Loni police station in Ghaziabad for three days in December 2008. He was later beaten up and given electric shocks by the policemen.
The youth also fractured his left hand and suffered severe injuries during his detention.
He was later sent to jail under Arms Act for illegally keeping a knife.
