New Delhi, April 02: Senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley said the UPA-II has lost its credibility as scams have badly damaged its image and the Congress will face a setback in the upcoming Assembly polls.
Addressing BJP Delhi Pradesh’s executive meeting, yesterday Mr Jaitley claimed that the UPA government has “no idea how to run the country.” The BJP leader added that these polls will bring a “new and good turn” for the country. If the results will come against the Congress and Left, then their position at the Centre will be affected, he said.
He stated that after the polls, it will be proved that there was no place for a third front and the NDA was only a non-Congress front.
He said no development has taken place in the North East.
Criticising the Congress government at the Centre and Delhi on the V K Shunglu Committee report, Mr Jaitley said these were related to only small contracts of the Commonwealth Games projects.
“The scam will become bigger when reports related to mega projects will come. Thousands of crores of rupees were spent only on repair work of the stadiums.” The Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha further said a feeling of negativity had engulfed last years’s sporting extravaganza.
Mr Jaitley said despite huge money spent on the sports infrastructure, the Delhi government has no plan to utilise the facilities.
Attacking the Congress, he alleged that two Prime Ministers from that party were involved in cash for votes scam during the Trust Vote. “Our government fell only because of one vote. But there were no charges that we tried to buy the votes,” Mr Jaitley added.
Criticising the Congress for price rise, the BJP leader said the Centre was adopting “ad hoc measures” to control the prices of essentials.
