Kolkata, December 08: Indian Premier League (IPL) chairman Lalit Modi today said the unavailability of Pakistani players for the third edition of the T20 extravaganza was unfortunate as some exciting players will miss the action.
“They (Pakistan) are the reigning ICC T20 champions. We would have got some exciting players, but it’s unfortunate that they would not be available (for IPL III),” Modi said here during his inspection visit to Eden Gardens, the home of Kolkata Knight Riders for the IPL.
Pakistan’s top cricketers will miss a second straight IPL campaign after missing yesterday’s deadline in securing visas for the lucrative Twenty20 tournament.
The deadline for completing paperwork for the six-week tournament from March 12 was extended from November 20 to yesterday.
“We had a process in place, it was their prerogative to get the clearance done.
