Hyderabad: There is an acute shortage of medicines and surgical instruments in Osmania and Gandhi Hospitals. These hospitals also lack basic minimum amenities. In some wards, there are two patients on one bed. The patients who visited outpatient Departments have expressed their anguish. Doctors of these hospitals advise the patients to buy medicines from outside.
Dr. Raman, Director of Medical Education admitted that certain medicines are not available in hospitals and the doctors in such cases ask the patients to get medicines from outside. CT scans and X-ray machines do not function properly. The patients are advised to contact private diagnostic centers for getting these reports. Govt. should take immediate steps to improve the facilities in these hospitals.
