Hyderabad, May 17: May 16: Thirteen girls studying at the Oil Technological Research Institute, affiliated to Anantapur JNTU, filed a complaint with the in-charge collector that two lecturers, Mr Chandrsekhar and Mr Satish, were sexually harassing them.
One girl, alleged that the duo warned her that they would pour acid on her if she refused to gratify them sexually. She said that sexual harassment started in the institute after Mr Devanna replaced Mr Jayaveera as OTRI director. After OTRI introduced several one-year diploma courses, a large number of students had joined the institute a year ago.
Mr Chandrasekhar has denied the allegations levelled against him and said that the students were deliberately dragging his name into the controversy because he gave them low marks in the exams. When contacted, the JNTU Vice-Chancellor, Mr B. Krishna Gandhi, said that the university’s executive council would look into the allegations and action would be taken against the accused if found guilty.
