Muzaffarnagar, September 08: A local court today sentenced two persons to life imprisonment for killing an eyewitness in 2005.
Additional District Sessions Judge R C Diwakar held the two accused – Gohar and Jalha – guilty under section 302 of the IPC and imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on each of them.
According to the prosecution, Ahmad Mukhtar, an eyewitness and complainant of the murder of his two brothers, was shot dead in Kheri Kuresh village on December 20, 2005.
Police registered a case against three persons – Gohar, Johar and Jalha. While Gohar and Jalha were found guilty, the third accused Johar was acquitted due to lack of evidence.
Ahmad Mukhtar’s brothers Hamid and Sajid were shot dead by the trio in the village on December 17, 2002.
