Minority Welfare Department which is accustomed to controversies has fallen into yet another controversy when Waqf Board has refused to lend space for Andhra Pradesh Hajj Committee in Hajj House. It must be noted that Hajj House building is owned by Telangana Waqf Board. Thus the matter has raked up yet another controversy between the Minority Welfare Departments of the twin states.
It must be recalled that Andhra Pradesh Government has constituted new Hajj Committee for the state and its chairman was elected on Tuesday. 2 rooms were required for the chambers of chairman and members. Prof. S A Shukoor who is serving as Executive Officer of the both the states sent a letter to Telangana Waqf Board identifying 4 rooms on the 9th floor of Hajj House building requesting the board to hand over the rooms to Andhra Pradesh Hajj Committee. However Secretary Minority Welfare of Telangana Syed Omer Jaleel who is also the competent authority of the Waqf Board has opposed lending the space to Andhra Pradesh.
