Telangana Government will give Film awards by next Ugadi festival, Cinematography Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav has said.
The minister held a review meeting with officials, including Advisor to Government K V Ramana Chary, Information Commissioner Navin Mittal, JMD Kishore Babu, ED Rajeshwar Rao and discussed on the awards to be given to the films and artistes and plan to promote film industry.
Talking to mediapersons at Secretariat later, Talasani said the State government was committed to encourage film industry to flourish. A sub-committee headed by Ramana Chary had already held two meetings on the key issue of resolving issues of the film industry and giving awards on annual basis. Film awards, single window clearance, online ticketing, mini culture centers, small films, fifth show, facilities at Chitrapuri Colony and so on were discussed in the meeting, he said, adding that the key issues will be taken up with the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to take a final call on naming the awards, resolving the issues and taking necessary steps for development of the film industry.
The Chief Minister, who was planning to transform Hyderabad into a cinema hub and to set up a film training institute on the lines of Pune Film Institute will announce related decisions in January, he said. He also instructed the officials to allot land for the film institute after making a field survey and give a report to the government. Since there are problems in online ticketing, the Film Development Council will continue to monitor the tickets, he said, adding that the State government has an idea to offer subsidy to message-oriented, children-oriented films and of historic importance to promote small films.
The State government will discuss the issues with film bigwigs and noted film personalities to take a call on the key issues, he said. A decision on film awards name, cash prize and national awards will be taken after a discussion with the Chief Minister, Talasani said. A meeting with the minister and officials concerned will soon be called to discuss on the plan to set up mini-theaters in RTC bus depots. (NSS)
