Hyderabad, September 20: The city police arrested pro-Telangana activists, including women cadres of Telangana Rastra Samiti (TRS) and lecturers at different places, here today.
Protesting against her remarks on the ongoing people’s strike, large number of TRS women activists laid a siege at the house of Congress General Secretary and former Union Minister Ms Renuka Chaudhary at Banjara hills in the city in the morning.
Police forced the activists out of the house and arrested some of them.
The former Union Minister yesterday in Delhi had reportedly stated that the mass general strike was a flop as there was 85 per cent attendance in the state Secretariat.
In another incident, police arrested Telangana lecturers when they tried to lay siege to the assembly, protesting against the athi charge on the students at Osmania University campus and at Nizam College hostel yesterday.
Before attempting to lay siege to the assembly, the lecturers, who had joined the ‘sakala jana samme’ call given by Telagana employees JAC, took out rally and raised slogans in favour of separate state of Telangana.
