Hyderabad, June 30: “The most worrying factor for Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao is that the TRS will become obsolete once a separate Telangana State is announced. This is the reason why KCR is in favour of a United Andhra Pradesh,” said Congress MLA from Sangareddy, T Jayaprakash Reddy on Wednesday.
Talking to media persons, Mr Jayaprakash Reddy said that the frequent elections forced on the people by TRS MLAs resigning on the slightest pretext will be the reason for the party’s defeat in the forthcoming by-elections.
The Congress MLA exuded confidence that the party flag will fly high in the TRS bastion, Siddipet after the counting of votes.
Mr Jayaprakash Reddy described the TRS targeting the Pradesh Congress Chief D Srinivas and seeking his defeat at the hustings as the surest signs of lack of confidence among the TRS leadership.
The Congress MLA said that this lack of confidence is forcing the TRS chief to make baseless allegations against Mr Srinivas and the Congress party.
Mr Jayaprakash Reddy reminded how KCR had founded the TRS when he was denied a ministerial berth in the Cabinet of Telugu Desam Party in 1999.
Claiming that KCR had hijacked the ‘Telangana separate statehood’ plank from the Congress, Mr Jayaprakash Reddy said that even KCR is well aware of the drop of voting percentages in each subsequent elect to seats held by the TRS.
The Congress MLA said that KCR himself feared the erosion of his base in Telangana region and he was worried about the TRS becoming redundant after Telangana is formed.
Mr Jayaprakash Reddy reiterated that the Congress flag will fly at Nizamabad and Siddipet and the TRS candidates will even lose their deposits. He said that the Congress had lost these seats in the 2009 elections since the entire opposition had ganged up against it. The Congress MLA reminded that the situation has changed since then, and the opposition is in disarray.
