Hyderabad: Leader of Opposition in the Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir has accused the TRS government of implementing “secret agenda” of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh of saffronization of education.
Speaking to the media at Assembly Media Point on Saturday, Shabbir Ali said the recent violent incidents rocked the University of Hyderabad (UoH) and Osmania University (OU) were a clear proof that the TRS Government was being remote controlled by the RSS to target the students, who were opposing casteism and communalism in educational institutions. He also alleged that the BJP Government at the Centre and TRS government in Telangana were jointly terrorizing the students, especially those belonging to Dalit, ST, BC and Minority communities.
Shabbir Ali questioned the inaction of Cyberabad Police in not arresting HCU Vice-Chancellor Appa Rao even after registering a case under SC/ST Atrocities Act. He alleged that the UoH students were brutally beaten up and whisked away to different police stations. Congress MLA Sampath Kumar, who is a Dalit, and other leaders were specifically targeted by the police, he added.
The HCU students were deprived of food, water and electricity, he said. He also demanded that the HRD Ministry clarify how it allowed VC Appa Rao to continue in the post even as a one-man judicial commission inquiry was going on.
Welcoming the intervention of National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) in the case, he said his party would expose the communal agenda of BJP and TRS Governments. He also demanded that all cases registered against students be withdrawn and action be taken against the erring policemen. He also threatened that his party would launch an agitation to press for arrest and dismissal HCU Vice-Chancellor Poldile Appa Rao. (NSS)
