Will speak to PM to recall Appa Rao as HCU VC: KCR

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao assured the Telangana State Legislative on Saturday that he would personally speak to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to recall V. Appa Rao from the post of Vice-Chancellor of Hyderabad Central University.

Replying to a discussion on recent incidents of violence in HCU and Osmania University in the House, the Chief Minister said that the State Government was not empowered to change the HCU’s VC. However, he assured that he would take up the issue with the Centre and also speak to the Prime Minister in this regard. He said a positive result could be expected in two-three days time.

KCR said although he was not against moving a resolution in the House seeking transfer of VC, it would be inappropriate for the Assembly to pass a resolution against an individual. (INN)
