The ruling TRS has announced M Bhupal Reddy as its candidate for Narayankhed Assembly bye-election. Bhupal Reddy, who unsuccessfully contested in the 2014 general elections from the same segment, got another chance to contest from Narayankhed as TRS candidate.
Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao announced Bhupal Reddy as the TRS candidate for the byepoll on Wednesday. The byepoll necessitated as the sitting Congress MLA died last year. This time the TRS leadership is exuding confidence that they will win the seat with handsome majority as welfare schemes were reaching out to the people.
The Congress zeroed in on Sanjiva Reddy, son of late Kishta Reddy, for the byepoll. Earlier, the Congress made a vain bid to make the by-poll a unanimous but the TRS leadership declined to cooperate and declared intention to contest. It is learnt that the Telugu Desam and BJP, which cannot fight the by-poll individually, are jointly planning to field M Vijayapal Reddy as their candidate. The two allies are likely to make a statement in this regard as the Election Commission has already announced its schedule for the bypoll slated to be conducted on February 13. (NSS)
