TRS demands Rs 15 Lakh ex Gratia, job t Srikant’s family party MLA’s donate a months salary

Hyderabad, December 04: The Telangana Rashtra Samithi has demanded that the state government pay an ex-gratia of Rs 15 lakhs and a government job to one of the family members of Srikant, who died of burns he suffered after he dowsed himself with kerosene and attempted to self immolation.

The TRS leaders, Mr Nayani Narasimha Reddy, Ms Padma Devender Reddy and others visited the Osmania General Hospital here where the body of Srikant was brought for post mortem.

Talking to the media at the hospital, the TRS leaders said that all the 10 party legislators have decided to donate a month’s salary amounting to Rs 4 lakhs to the family members of Srikant who sacrificed his life for the cause of separate Telangana state. Stating that Srikant has a younger brother, they demanded that the government give a government job to him immediately. They warned the government that they would not allow the post mortem to be performed until the government announced the ex-gratia.

An emotionally choked Ms Padma Devender Reddy, a former MLA, with tears rolling down her cheeks, said that Srikant’s sacrifice would not go waste. She said that she could not bear the sight of Srikant’s mother who is a heart patient and had undergone open-heart surgery wailing uncontrollably. She said that all of them were ready to follow the example of the young men and laid down their lives for the cause of Telangana. She demanded that the Congress government at the Centre should respond at least now and announce its decision about the formation of the new state.
