Kolkata:A two-member Trinamool Congress delegation led by party MP and national spokesperson Derek O’Brien will today visit Hyderabad which is witnessing protests over the alleged suicide of a dalit scholar.
“We have spoken to the students and they said it will be a nice gesture if you come and express solidarity with us”, O’Brien here said.
“I have listened to their account regrading the incident.
We will reach Hyderabad this evening”, he said, adding another member of the delegation is party MP Pratima Mondol.
A Dalit PhD scholar was found hanging in his hostel room located on the University of Hyderabad campus on Sunday last.
Union Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya and Hyderabad University Vice Chancellor were named in an FIR over the alleged suicide of the dalit student, triggering massive protests and demands for their removal from posts.
