Train driver electrocuted

Burdwan (WB), November 12: The assistant driver of Kamrup Express was electrocuted in a mishap at Katwa railway station yesterday in Burdwan district, GRP sources said.

The accident occurred when P Haldar (45) was checking the water level at about 9 pm. He came in contact with a high tension line, the sources said.

Haldar, a driver of the Howrah division of Eastern Railway, died on the spot.

A spokesman of the Eastern Railway said in Kolkata that the train had to wait for about 1.30 hours on platform no two before a fresh engine was arranged for its onward journey.
