TPF pays homage to martyrs

Hyderabad, December 10: The Telangana Praja Front observed the Telangana Martyrs Day here today on the occasion of the first anniversary of the statement made by Union home minister P Chidambaram on December 9, 2009 promising formation of Telangana state.

The front appealed to the United Progressive Alliance government at the Centre to introduce a bill favouring separate Telangana state in the ongoing winter session of Parliament.

It also gave a call for `Chalo Hyderabad’ on January 26 next year to protest against the `callous’ attitude of the government to Telangana.

Paying tributes at the Martyrs Memorial, TPF chairman Gadar called upon all organisations to strengthen the ongoing agitation for state’s bifurcation by involving leaders from all political parties. He demanded that the UPA government introduce a bill on Telangana in the ongoing sessions of Parliament.

Gadar called upon the cadres to participate in the non-cooperation movement to be launched if the Centre did not announce statehood for Telangana and demanded withdrawal of all cases registered against students as promised by Chidambaram. Justifying the demand for a separate state, he alleged that Telangana resources were being diverted to other regions.

“It is time to preserve jobs, water and lands for sons of the soil,” he declared.

Announcing that the front adopted more than 15 resolutions, Gadar said awareness capaign would be conducted in villages to make people realise how Telangana movement had been betrayed by selfish leaders over a period of time. “The TPF will start mandal-level protests and submit representations toMPs and MLAs demanding that Telangana bill be introduced in Parliament. The TPF will organise protests in front of all district collectorates on December 23 and `Chalo Hyderabad’ on January 26.

He called upon the cadres to participate in social and financial non-cooperation with Telangana betrayers. Chukka Ramaiah, MLC and educationist, said that the UPA government was deliberately delaying the process of giving statehood to Telangana by constituting commissions and asked people to fight for separate Telangana till their last breath.

Earlier, cultural programmes were organised promoting the Telangana culture, tradition and history.
