TPCC will chalk out poll strategy soon: Uttam

Hyderabad: TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has said his party would chalk out its strategy for next election in the next few days.

Addressing the media at Gandhi Bhavan on Tuesday, Uttam Kumar Reddy informed that a meeting was held today with party’s senior leaders, including DCC presidents wherein several issues, including possibility of early polls were discussed. He said party MLAs, MLCs, MPs, former ministers and heads of all front organizations would meet again on Wednesday to discuss the strategy to be adopted for next elections. He said wider consultations were being held with leaders and other stakeholders on manifesto. He said a few major promises like crop loan waiver up to Rs 2 lakh, doubling the Aasra Pension amount and Rs 3,000 monthly allowance to jobless youth have already been announced.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said several major decisions were taken in today’s meeting. He said a committee would be constituted next month to shortlist the candidates for next Assembly and Lok Sabha elections. He said candidates would be selected on the basis of winnability and also the social justice. It was also decided to send an open letter to citizens of Telangana on the failures of TRS Government and also to caution them against the tactics used by Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao to cheat various communities and groups. He said the decision on next phase of Praja Chaitanya Bus Yatra and also the alliance with other parties would be finalised once the clarity comes on early polls which is likely to happen after TRS public meeting on September 2. However, he said, the Congress was fully ready to face elections, whenever they are held. He said a resolution was passed inviting UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Congress president Rahul Gandhi for the election campaign.

The TPCC Chief claimed that the Congress party would comfortably win over 75 seats in next elections which clearly evident in all the surveys done by the TPCC and also AICC. He said it was also decided to admit leaders from other parties and groups, who wish to join Congress party unconditionally. The TPCC chief alleged that KCR Government has cheated all sections of the society with unfulfilled promises and fake assurances. TRS plan to go for an early election was again aimed at misleading and cheating the people of Telangana. He said Congress party would expose the ill-designs of KCR Government.

Speaking about recent announcement made by the Chief Minister over construction of Bhavans for various BC communities, Uttam Kumar Reddy alleged that KCR was trying to cheat the Backward Classes. He pointed out that on June 11, 2014, the TRS Government, through the first address of Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan to Telangana Assembly, promised to spend Rs 25,000 crore on BC Welfare. However, the TRS Government, in the last four-and-a-half years, did not spend even one-fourth of the amount promised. Even the allocations made for BCs in the budget were not fully utilized, he alleged.

“While just one or two acres of land and an amount of Rs 1 to 5 crore are being promised for these ‘Bhavans’, for the accommodation of a single family of KCR, ‘Pragathi Bhavan’ was constructed in nine acres of land at a cost of Rs. 500 Crore,” he said and asked as to why KCR remained silent on 12% Muslim reservation? Uttam also said the TRS Government did not grant promised judicial powers to Wakf Board. He also slammed the TRS Government for not giving loans to minority youth.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said there were no disputes or debate in the Congress party over party’s Chief Ministerial candidate. He said it has been a practice in the Congress party to elect the Chief Ministerial candidate after elections. Therefore, he said all the reports appearing in a section of media were mere speculations.

Senior leaders, including AICC Telangana Inchrage RC Khuntia, CLP leader K. Jana Reddy, TPCC Working President Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Vice-President Dr. Mallu Ravi, ex-PCC Chief Ponnala Lakshmaiah, Chief Spokesperson Dr. Sravan Dasoju, AICC Secretary Saleem Ahmed and ex-Union Minister Balram Naik were also present.
