Madurai, September 08: Tamil Nadu Government does not have any plans to scrap class 10 board examinations for the present and would wait for a formal request by the Centre in this regard, state Education Minister Thangam Thennarasu has said.
“We will take up the issue for discussion only on formal request from the Central Government,” he told reporters here last evening.
On government’s decision to implement uniform system of school education, he said schools need not have any apprehensions in this connection.
It would be implemented in a phased manner from the next academic year by creating a common board for school education, he said at the “School Excellence Conclave”, organised by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
“The decision was taken by the Chief Minister himself for ensuring social justice,” Thennarasu added.
