Telangana JAC would study the irrigation projects in Mahbubnagar on July 21 and 22, said its chairman Prof. Kodandaram here on Thursday.
T-JAC meeting was held today which was attended by leaders of different associations to study future course of action. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Kodandram. “We have discussed on the implications in acquiring lands and other problems and a report would be prepared in next fortnight”, he said, adding that a seminar would be held on the problems of Mallannasagar project.
Prof. Kodandaram said lands should not be acquired forcibly for irrigation projects. Taking a dig that Vidyasagar Rao is an advisor of Irrigation department, he said the projects are not being built for experts. TJAC would visit Mallannasagar project and try to create awareness among farmers on the need for acquiring lands for the proposed reservoir. He also said the project should be re-designed to minimise the loss to farmers.
A book on energy sector would be released next week and a conference would e held next month on the issue of unemployment in the State, he said. (NSS)
