Tiger Woods Gatorade deal scrapped

Los Angeles, February 28: Tiger Woods Gatorade deal scrapped. When ace golfer Tiger Woods apologized recently to his family members and fans there were expectations that the controversy would die down. But nothing like this has happened.

Another marketer of Woods has dropped him. Gatorade has dropped the disgraced golfer as from the list of endorsement deals.

A representative for the drink, sold by PepsiCo Inc., has confirmed it. A senior executive of the company had declared in public that it is going to end its relationship with Woods.

“We no longer see a role for Tiger in our marketing efforts and have ended our relationship,” a Gatorade spokeswoman said. “We wish him all the best.” However, the company said that it would continue to work with the Tiger Woods Foundation.

After Gatorade discontinued its relation with Woods it has become the third major backer of the golfer distancing themselves from the champion. Woods’ woes started after report surfaced about his extra-marital affairs with some eleven mistresses. The incident had an adverse impact on his career and personal life. It was after this that the golfer had gone underground. Initially, he was spotted at a sex rehab where her distraught wife also visited him. It was speculated that Woods was preparing for a comeback. And it really happened so when he made a public appearance, asking his die-hard fans to forgive him.

But with the latest development, it would be too immature to say that people are willing to forget the incident. That is why Wood’s agent Mark Steinberg was upset. He wrote in an e-mail: “While we are disappointed Gatorade has decided to not continue with Tiger in their marketing plans, we appreciate their continued involvement with Tiger through his foundation.”
