Hyderabad, October 06: The State Police will provide a three-tier security to the railways properties and passengers during the proposed three-day Rail Roko call given by Telangana Joint Action Committee from October 9 to 11.
In a review meeting attended by Director General of Police V Dinesh Reddy, South Central Railway AGM R Vijaya Mohan and other senior officials of both the departments at State Police Headquarters here on Wednesday, it has been decided to have a three-tier security comprising of stationery pickets, patrolling parties and reserve parties to protect the passengers, trains and other railway assets.
The officials have also decided to set up Central Control rooms manned by senior officials of Railways at the offices of DRM, Hyderabad and DRM Secunderabad where senior police officers will also be positioned for real time exchange of information and action. Pilot trains will also be pressed into operation. While minimising passenger inconvenience, the railways will work out a scheme for diversion of trains and early termination of them, depending up on the situation.
Thorough patrolling by railway staff will be intensified for avoiding any type of sabotage. Looking at the recurrence of agitations, affecting rail services, the DGP has stressed upon the need to work out short term and long term measures.
Later, the DGP held a detailed meeting with all the senior police officials, commissioners of Hyderabad and Cyberabad to review the strike situation. (INN)
