Hyderabad, August 28: Three persons were nabbed on Thursday for procuring and using fake international credit cards. The trio had made transactions in lakhs with the fake credit cards since the past two years. Police seized 20 fake international credit cards of various banks from them.
The trio were caught by the Task Force sleuths on credible information near Charminar. According to the police, Md Siddique, a plastic businessman from Chelapura, procured 20 fake international credit cards from a person, Raja of Chennai. Siddique brought the cards for Rs 10,000 each.
Siddique sold the cards to two others, Esa Bin Sayeed of Toli Chowki and Md Haji of Rajendranagar, for Rs 12,000 and Rs 15,000 respectively. To use the cards, the duo fabricated identity proofs of actual
customers with the help of Mehraj, who is a friend of Haji’s.
Esa and Haji purchased gold ornaments, mobile phones and electronic items at shopping malls with the
credit cards. The purchased items were sold to various customers in other districts, Task Force additional Deputy Commissioner of Police M Ravindranath Babu said.
Police have launched a search to nab Raja to reach the source of preparing and circulation of fake credit
cards and also Mehraj, who prepared the fake identity cards of credit card customers. All the accused have a previous history of crime. Siddique was arrested for his involvement in communal cases in 2000-01 while Haji was arrested by the police while selling spurious oil.
Esa Bin Sayeed was arrested by the Mumbai police for using fake credit cards and also by the Golconda police in a cheating case. He was also wanted by the Saroornagar police in a fake credit card case.
