Call for concerted efforts to tackle terrorism

Hyderabad, August 28: A meeting of top anti-terrorism experts in the city have called for a sound inter-State coordination among various agencies, just like in the USA, to tackle terrorism in the country.

Experts on the subject, mostly from the USA, were in the city for a symposium on anti-terrorism security organised by Micro Sec. ATS, an agency which supplies high-end electronic devices for use by security agencies to tackle terror attacks.

“Creating a safer country through awareness, innovation, training and protection of sensitive information is our motto,’’ V Satyanarayana, MD of Micro Sec. ATS, told the gathering.

The objective of the symposium was to sensitise security agencies on possible terror threats and solutions, he said.

Earlier, speaking to reporters, one of the participants, Morgan Wright, expert in public safety and from the Homeland Security of USA, said that sharing information among various agencies was key to tackling terror.

“That is exactly what we do back home.’’ He, however, warned that economic terrorism was a reality and security agencies should take appropriate measures to tackle it.

Other speakers wanted security agencies to be cautious against the frontal organisations of various terror groups. Among the dignitaries present were Finance Minister K Rosaiah and Assembly Speaker N Kiran Kumar Reddy.
