Three-man snatching gang busted

The Santoshnagar sleuths have busted a notorious interstate snatching gang of three persons and seized stolen property 13 tolas of gold and two motor bikes from their possession.

The criminals were arrested on Sunday evening during vehicle checking at Rakshapuram ‘T’ Junction. M. Appalanaidu, DI, Santoshnagar PS, arrested the trio under the guidance of. V. Satyanarayana, IPS.

The accused were identified as Syed Afroz Ali, 24, of Indiragandhipuram Colony, Sanathnagar, Syed Azeem Ahmeduddin, 22, of Murgi Chowk, near Stayfit Gym, Khilwath and Mohd Pasha, 24, of Sai Nagar, Kukutpally Housing Board, Hyderabad.

Police said the gang used to commit theft of high speed two wheelers by using false keys parked in front of houses. These vehicles were being used for committing Snatching Offences. The modus operandi of the gang is the rider drove the vehicle just beside the selected old women going alone; pillion rider would snatch the chain from the neck of the women. One of these persons would watch the surroundings while committing offences. They normally select isolated places like colonies and commit the offences targeting lonely moving ladies near temples, lanes, by lanes and secluded areas. In this fashion, the gang committed seven offences in the limits of Hyderabad and Mahbobnagar. Out of seven offences, five are snatchings and two are two-wheeler thefts.
Police said three months back they were released on bail from the Cherlapally Jail and Bidar Jail. (NSS)
