Thai woman gets life for slaying Canadian husband

Bangkok, August 28: A provincial court sentenced a Thai woman to life imprisonment for masterminding the murder of her Canadian husband last year, media reports said Friday.

The Ranong provincial court on Thursday found Maneerat Henry, Amornsak Katekaew and Jinda Sae Tae guilty of conspiring to murder Dale George Henry on February 3, 2008, the Bangkok Post reported.

Their sentences were commuted from the death penalty to life in prison after they confessed to the crime.

Maneerat admitted she had contacted her ex-husband Amornsak to hire Jinda to shoot Henry, whom she claimed was a drunk and beat her up regularly.

The couple lived in Ranong, 400 kilometres south-west of Bangkok.
