Thackeray Sr ventures out of Mumbai after 5 years

Mumbai, december 06: Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray has, after a gap of nearly five years, left the city for a short holiday to Mahableshwar.

He air-dashed to the hill station in the early hours of Saturday, and will be spending the next two days at a plush bungalow near Wilson Point, which is believed to be owned by Pune-based builder, Avinash Bhosle and which boasts its own helipad.

According to the party sources, Thackeray Sr never ventured out of Mumbai due to his waning health. But after his angioplasty three months ago, the 84-year-old has already begun to feel ‘a positive change’, they said.

Sources also disclosed that the Sena chief has now started keeping a schedule that is reminiscent of the times before his health began deteriorating. This, they said, was also evident when he recently addressed party workers at Sena Bhavan in Dadar.

Shiv Sena spokesperson Nilam Gorhe confirmed Thackeray’s trip and also disclosed that he was accompanied by son Uddhav.
