Terrorism high on agenda of Indo-Pak talks: Krishna

New Delhi, February 25: The Foreign Secretary level talks between India and Pakistan will be held in New Delhi today. External Affairs Minister SM Krishna has said that the talks will essentially focus on India’s core concern of terrorism.

In a reply to a question in Lok Sabha on Wednesday, Mr Krishna said India has consistently maintained that it is necessary to have an environment free of terror or threat of terror if relations between the two countries are to move forward in concrete and meaningful manner.

He also said that India expects Islamabad to bring the perpetrators of the Mumbai terrorist attack to justice, unravel the full conspiracy behind the attack, and fulfil its commitment to dismantle the terror infrastructure and deny sanctuary to all terrorist groups operating from Pakistai soil. He also said that enabling an effective channel of communication between India and Pakistan can assist in the discussion of such concerns and to highlight the seriousness New Delhi attaches to the need for action by Pakistan against terrorism.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Foreign Secretary, Salman Basheer who arrived in New Delhi yesterday for the talks is hopeful for a positive outcome.
