Hyderabad, February 17: Many bus services in Telangana region were being operated with police escort today following a call given by the Telangana Joint Action Committee (JPC) not purchase tickets oF RTC buses in view of non-cooperation movement.
According to reports reaching here this morning, Telangana activists were arrested by the police while travelling without ticket in buses.
The non-cooperation movement, aimed at demanding the placing of a separate Telangana Statehood Bill in Parliament, covered various Telangana Districts, including Nizamabad, Adilabad, Warangal, Karimnagar and Nalgonda.
Tension also prevailed at various places in the region in Andhra Pradesh.
APSRTC Secretary G V Ramana Rao said, ”we will not allow ticketless travel and operate buses at some places in Telangana districts with the help of police.’
