Hyderabad, July 26: The endowments department, after conducting an inquiry, on Monday charged Mr N. Vijaya Kumar, joint commissioner and executive officer of Kalahastheeswara temple, with dereliction of duty, besides imposing punishment on two retired senior officials.
Inquiries revealed that Mr Kumar had not filed a criminal report against Mr K. Suryanarayana Reddy, the then chairman of Ramalingeswara Swamy temple in Parlapadu of Kadapa district, who had misappropriated sale proceeds of the temple to the tune of Rs 2,43,800. Mr Kumar was also accused of failing to send proposals under Section 61 of Act 30/87 for initiating surcharge proceedings against Mr Reddy for recovery of the misappropriated amount.
Dr K.V. Ramanachary, principal secretary, said, “He showed gross negligence in discharging his legitimate duties. He is, therefore, liable for disciplinary action. The endowments department has ordered an inquiry against the official.”
The state government also suspended the Yadagirigutta executive officer, Mr Srinivas Rao, for gross negligence of duty and financial irregularities, and had slapped 15 charges against him after an inquiry.
In another case, the department punished Mr T. Sudarsana Rao, retired executive officer of the Sri Sarveswara Swamy temple in Kodamanchili of West Godavari district, and imposed a 10 per cent cut in pension for five years.
The endowments department found the retired executive officer of Group Temples in Rayachoti, Mr G.C. Yogeswara Reddy, guilty of grave financial irregularities.
