Hyderabad: In view of the World Telugu Conference to be held in the city from December 15 to 19, the Telangana government has now made it compulsory the use of Telugu on signboards of all commercial establishments.
The decision is also in accordance with the recent decision of the government to make the study of Telugu language mandatory for all students till Class XII from the next academic year.
According to the sources, the decision was taken by Chief Minister KCR when the issue came up for discussion in Pragathi Bhavan. The order will be issued by the labour department in two days.
In 2012, when the World Telugu Conference was held in Tirupati in December that year, a similar order was issued by the then Congress government headed by Nallari Kiran Kumar Reddy.
