Telangana, Left unity to figure in AIFB party congress

Kolkata, December 15: Telangana, the unity of Left parties, land acquisition for industry and the functioning of the Left Front government in West Bengal will be the key issues for discussion during the five-day party congress of LF partner All India Forward Bloc beginning here on December 17.

“The Centre’s decision to carve out Telangana has opened up a pandora’s box and demand for separate states in various parts of the country has gained fresh momentum,” AIFB General Secretary Debabrata Biswas told PTI here today.

He said that AIFB which had supported the previous UPA government, had demanded the setting up of a second state re-organisation commission for a decisive policy on formation of new states since the matter has become more complicated.

“But, the government did not listen to our views and suddenly made the announcement on Telangana,” he said.
