Telangana issue rocks Lok Sabha for third consecutive day

New Delhi, December 18: The Telangana issue again rocked the Lok Sabha for the third consecutive day today forcing an adjournment till 1200 hrs.The Lower House was adjourned when MPs from Andhra Pradesh dsirupted the proceedings in support of their pro and anti-Telangana demands.

Telegu Desam Party (TDP) Members in the opposition benches were displaying paper placards displaying “United Andhra”, while three Members from the Telangana Rashtria Samiti (TRS) entered the well of the house demanding a separate Telangana State. They were also displaying paper placards showing ” Jai Telangana”.

However, Congress MPs from Andhra displayed paper placards showing “Unified Andhra Pradesh” and also raised slogans in support of their demands rising from their seats.Speaker Meira Kumar requested the Members to maintain peace and asked them to go back to their respective seats and said they should allow the House to take up the Question Hour smoothly. The agitating Members from Andhra were not in a mood to listen to the Speaker’s advice and maintained their position.

The House could just take up one Question and though Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee gave the answer but nothing was audible. Replying to a question on complaints about the nationalised Banks, Mr Mukherjee said around 80 to 87 per cent of those complaints had been resolved.The Speaker than adjourned the House at 1125 hours till 1200 hours.
