Led by Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, a delegation of State Congress leaders met Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in Bengaluru on Friday requesting him to release 15 TMC of water from Narayanpur reservoir. Accepting the request, the Karnataka CM has agreed to release 7 TMC of water.
The Congress delegation comprised of Leaders of Opposition K. Jana Reddy (Assembly) and Shabbir Ali (Council), MLAs D.K. Aruna, G. Chinna Reddy, A. Sampath Kumar and Vamshi Chand Reddy, TPCC Vice-President Dr. Mallu Ravi, General Secretaries Venugopal and Shravan Kumar Reddy, Treasurer Gudur Narayan Reddy, ex-MP V. Hanumantha Rao and other leaders.
Speaking to media persons later, Uttam Kumar Reddy informed that the Karnataka CM was urged to release 15 TMC water to meet the water supply shortages inTelangana State. Similarly, he said that Siddaramaiah was requested to expedite the works on Package I&2 of Rajoulibanda Diversion Scheme whose completion would ensure irrigation water to one lakh acres of land in Mahabubnagar district. He said that the Chief Minister gave instructions for release of 7 TMC of water from Narayanapur reservoir and also directed the officials to speed up the works on RDS. He thanked Siddaramaiah for accepting the request made by Congress leaders on behalf of people of Telangana.
