Hyderabad, December 17: The Congress leaders from the Telangana region today resolved to strengthen the hands of Party President Sonia Gandhi and the Congress-led UPA government, which has set in motion the process for Telangana state, to realise their long-cherished goal.
The meeting attended by all Telangana ministers, legislators and elected representatives from Urban and Rural Local bodies and cooperative institutions, adopted a thanks-giving resolution here and expressed their “unflinching loyolty” to the Congress and its leadership and strive to realise the goal.
The resolution moved by senior party leader A R Amos,MLC was adopted unanimously by all partymen from the region by show of hands amid ”Jai Telangana” slogans. They cautioned the party high command against the efforts being made by certain forces to dilute or scuttle the its intiative.
The meeting urged the High Command not to succumb to these forces. ”In fact these forces merit no sympathy because of their open dishonesty to the party and its leadership”, it charged.
”The so called resignations by legislators are politically- motivated, orchestered and also amounted to indiscipline”, they charged, adding If they were to register any protest, they should have done so within the party forum rather than the challenging the party high command and the union government.
The meeting asserted that it would do nothing that demeaned the party and its leadership although uncompromising on its stand on Telangana.
”This meeting of elected representatives of Telangana, including Legislators, Panchayati Raj Institutions, Municipalities and Cooperative Institutions and all leaders of Congress party expressed its sincere thanks to the AICC President Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for initiating for the formation of separate Telangana and thus redeems party’s promise made in our manifesto of 2004, common minimum programme of UPA and also President’s address to the nation”, the resolution said.
”The Union Home Minister statement in Parliament on December 10 for the formation of separate Telangana is welcome”, it added.
