Hyderabad: Telangana Government has increased an additional Rs. 3000 crore in the State’s Health Budget this year with the total proposed amounting to Rs 10,000 crores with the additional amount meant for maternal and child welfare activities.
The state government is likely to allocate more funds to the health sector in the 2019-20 budget.
The Telangana government has come up with plans to increase funds for ‘KCR kits programme’ in a move to improve the institutional deliveries in the state.
According to official estimates, about 6.28 lakh-6.4 lakh institutional deliveries happen every year in the state of which only 40% are recorded at state-run facilities while the remaining go unrecorded.
The trend of C section deliveries in private facilities has largely increased across the state over the past few years.
The state government has now aimed to reverse the trend of C section deliveries to normal deliveries.
“We want to increase allocation to diagnostic services and purchase of machinery,” said a senior official from the health department.
