Teenage Mumbai girl gang raped, threatened with rape MMS

Mumbai, July 03: In a shocking incident, a 16-year-old girl was gang raped by boys on her way back from Prabhadevi’s Siddhivinayak temple on Wednesday morning.

The rapists were known to the girl, and had accompanied her to the temple. Four of the accused have been arrested, while the police are on the lookout for the fifth.

At 4 am on Wednesday, the victim, a resident of Kurar, was returning after an early morning darshan at the Siddhivinayak temple accompanied by neighbours Rajesh Jaiswal (19), Suraj Nepali (20), and two minors Lala (16) and Rahul (17). The name of the fifth man is not known yet.

Not keen to return home, they decided to head to the hillocks of Kurar village in Malad.

On reaching the hillock, the five accused drugged the victim, leaving her unconscious. They then took turns to rape her and filmed an MMS video of the same.

When the victim came around, they showed her the MMS and threatened her to stay quiet, failing which they would circulate the MMS to her neighbours. The girl did not go to the police or let anyone know of the crime, fearing social stigma.

On Thursday however, the MMS was leaked and eventually reached the police. They launched a search operation for the accused and arrested four of them on Saturday.

“We have registered a case against the five accused under section 376 of Indian Penal Code,” said Senior Police Inspector Danaji Nalavde of Kurar Police station.
