UP teen stabbed to death for raising alarm against eve teasing

LUCKNOW: A 16-year-old girl was reportedly stabbed to death after raised an alarm against eve teasing in Baansdeeh area of Uttar Pradesh. The police said that the teen girl was attacked by five men after she made an effort to protest against them for harassing her.

The incident took place when the girl was returning home from school on her cycle when the five men stopped her and were allegedly forcing her to talk to them. “Ragni Dubey, a resident of Bajha village, was on her way to school on her bicycle when five men on two motorcycles intercepted her near Shankarpur Bhawani temple and pressured her to talk to them,” SP Sujata Singh was quoted as saying.

When the girl refused to oblige and raised an alarm, the attackers pushed her cycle while attacking her. The men left her on the same road to die. “As the girl refused to talk, they pushed her bicycle and when she fell down on the road, they repeatedly stabbed her and left her bleeding profusely,” the police officer said.’

The family members of the girl rushed the girl to the hospital. However, the doctors declared her brought dead. The girl was reportedly a class 12 student. The family members have also claimed that few men on the motorcycle had been following the girl for quite some time now. The family of the deceased have registered a complaint with the police against the village pradhan, his son, his nephew and two other persons of the village.

The incident comes months after a video of 14 men harassing 2 women in Rampur area of Uttar Pradesh went viral on social media. The men brazenly surrounded the women while pushing and groping and them as the women made deliberate attempts to escape.
