Hyderabad, August 07: The cyber crime police of the CID on Friday arrested Harihara Kumar, a 24-year-old techie working in a software firm at Gatchibowli, on the allegations of cyber-stalking a girl student of an engineering college.
Harihara is a resident of Ramanthapur. He had allegedly been harassing and defaming the girl by hacking into her email and putting up false information on her Facebook wall.
The CID additional superintendent of police, Mr U. Ram Mohan, said that the accused had hacked into the e-mail of the girl and had posted comments on Facebook claiming that she “loved him.”
“Harihara had met the girl at a marriage, and had later proposed to her. But the girl had turned down his proposal. Since then, he has been harassing her,” said Mr Ram Mohan.
The police has booked a case under Section 66A, IT (Amendment) Act 2008 and Section 509 the IPC.
