TDP asks party workers to retaliate against TRS

Hyderabad, September 19: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) senior leader T Devender Goud called upon party cadre to retaliate against the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) which has been attacking TDP workers.

Addressing TDP Ranga Reddy district meeting at NTR Bhavan here today, Goud said the TDP was committed to the cause of Telangana. He alleged that TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao had been targeting the TDP as the TRS had a nexus with the ruling Congress. It was the Congress which was in a position to deliver separate Telangana. But Rao was sparing Congress and targeting the TDP, Goud said.

He said that the TDP had a strong cadre base in Telangana and wanted the party activists to effectively retaliate the TRS’ attacks. He told party workers to organise assembly constituency-wise meetings in order to strengthen the party. He advised party workers to be more vigilant on September 24, the day the judgment on Ayodhya case would be out. The TDP always stood for communal harmony, Goud said and wanted the cadre to see that the communal fabric remained intact in the state after September 24. Many TDP leaders, including Manchireddy Kishan Reddy, were present.

TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu is likely to tour Ranga Reddy district on Monday. Meanwhile, in a press release, TNSF state president N Narsireddy asked why TRS chief Chandrasekhar Rao skipped the Hyderabad Merger Day celebrations yesterday. The TRS chief had always talked about the self-respect of Telangana people, but why didn’t he participate in the Merger Day programmes, Narsireddy questioned.

He reminded Rao that a large number of T-people participated in the Merger Day yesterday except TRS chief. Rao’s absence exposed his commitment towards T-region, he alleged.
