TDP appeals Guv to convene Assembly to discuss public issues

The main opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) today appealed to Governor E S L Narasimhan to pressurise the State Government to convene Assembly session to discuss problems being faced by the people. In a memorandum submitted to the Governor by a delegation of TDP MLAs and MLCs, the party stated that Assembly session should be convened to discuss various important issues, including the on-going energy crisis, death of infants in public hospitals and other issues. The TDP delegation demanded that the Governor ask Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy to accept the resignation of Roads and Buildings Minister B Dharmana Prasad Rao, whose name had figured in the chargesheet filed by Central Bureau of Investigation in the disproportionate assets case of Jagan Mohan Reddy.

The TDP leaders also demanded that all tainted ministers be dismissed from the State Cabinet.

In their memorandum, the TDP legislators alleged that the State Government had failed to tackle the energy crisis and did not respond to the several representations given by the party over the issue.

The government had also failed to full their promise to supply seven hours of power to the farmers, they alleged. Later, talking to reporters senior TDP leaders P Ashok Gajapathi Raju and Errabelli Dayakar Rao said submission of memorandum to the Governor was the last resort for the TDP. The party would launch protests across the State if the government failed to address the issues concerning the general public, they warned. UNI
