Better education for girls will reduce cases of femal foeticide: CM

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today said better education for girls would help greatly in reducing the female foeticide and maintaining the ideal sex ratio in state. Addressing a high level review meeting on human development index here, Mr Kumar said the sex ratio in Bihar was 919 female on 1000 men in 2001 which decreased to 916 in 2011. The decreasing sex ratio was the issue of deep concern for the state government and sincere steps were being taken to improve it, he added. The Chief Minister said health, education, empowerment and welfare of scheduled castes and scheduled tribes were key sector where state government was required to concentrate for better result on human development indicators.

Effective execution of various welfare schemes would be of greater advantage in achieving goal of good results of human development indicators, he added. UNI
