TAJAC warns to support T-bid to stay in city

Hyderabad, July 06: The Telangana Advocates Joint Action Committee (TAJAC) on Tuesday said that those who don’t support Telangana won’t be permitted to stay in Hyderabad. The advocates association maintained that all those staying in the city should support statehood for Telangana. A large number of advocates were bundled into a jeep and shifted to Falaknuma police station, on the first day of the two-day bandh, when they tried to obstruct a meeting of TD MLAs from the Seemandra region at the MLA quarters. The TAJAC co-convenor, Mr T. Sriranga Rao, demanded that all the Telangana public representatives, including the Union minister, Mr Jaipal Reddy, MPs Mr Anjan Kumar Yadav and Mr Sarve Satyanarayana, ministers Mr Mukesh Goud, Mr Danam Nagender, the Deputy CM, Mr Damodar Raja Narasimha, and MLA Mr Marri Sasidhar Reddy resign from their positions in support of Telangana.

“We have also asked public prosecutors, the advocate general and government pleaders to put in their papers as all public representatives are quitting their positions,’” said Mr Gandra Mohan Rao, another TAJAC leader. “In the next phase of the movement, we will urge even High Court judges not to attend duties.’” Due to the TAJAC protests proceedings of the High Court were affected. As soon as the court proceedings began, T-advocates entered the court halls and urged the judges to allow them to request their colleagues not to attend work. Most of the advocates left the court halls after that. Judges also got down from the benches as there was no representation for the cases. A couple of judges conducted the proceedings till the lunch session; thereafter they also left. Functioning of other courts, including the Metropolitan Criminal Courts, Nampally, City Civil Courts and Ranga Reddy District Courts, was also affected.

In another development, the advocates association demanded action against the Task Force DCP, Mr Srinivas saying that the police officer from Seemandhra region manhandled senior leaders, Mr Nagam Janardhan Reddy, Mr Venugopalachary, MLA Mr Jogu Ramanna and other leaders while they were trying to enter the OU campus. Meanwhile, the Junior Advocates JAC president, Mr S. Janardhan Rao, alleged that the government was trying to suppress the movement by bringing in central forces and about 2,475 advocates were arrested on Tuesday.
